The owner and founder of Wine & Food Culture is Mecaela Miller, a graduate of California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo with her Bachelors in Science on Wine and Viticulture, and a concentration in Wine Business.
During her time there, Mecaela worked for a small wine shop and volunteered at wine events across California. She also served as the Vice President for the Vines to Wines Club, an on-campus organization dedicated to promoting wine education.
Every opportunity she had she spent traveling to wine regions across California, Oregon and Washington, and was continually impressed by what a vast and incredible world the wine industry is.
In the summer of 2008, she completed a summer program with the Engineering School of Enology at Changins in Switzerland followed by several months of traveling to various wine regions across Western Europe and learning from the pioneers of the industry.
Mecaela's passion is learning and she has dedicated years to working and studying as much as possible in the wine and food industry. She has worked all over California and had the chance to learn from top chefs, winemakers and industry professionals that have all guided her towards her passion for wine education.
Last year she spent four months working in London at the top Italian restaurant Theo Randall at the Intercontinental Hotel. It was here that she had a chance to sharpen her food and wine pairing skills with the guidance of sommelier Alvaro Marcos Garcia, winner of the 2007 International Sommelier Challenge. She also spent time working with Kate Thal of Green and Blue Wines, which was the winner of Decanter Magazine’s "Top UK Wine Merchant of the Year".
Mecaela currently resides in Sacramento, CA. She is quickly becoming the people's choice for an "industry insider" experience all across California.
