CORKS OUT

Corks Out is an independent wine merchant who sells and distributes Concha y Toro wines as part of their collection. It was founded in 2003 by Ruth Yates and her many years experience of wine buying and true love for wine has helped her expand to 5 stores and an informative, easy-to-use website.  www.corksout.com .

John Doyle, the man taking care the Corks Out account  ask me to do two presentations about Concha y Toro Fine wines in two of Corks Out stores. We decided to go to Chester & Stockton Heath which is run by Bob who was there on the night.

We started with Bob’s introduction on Chile and following my introduction we discussed all the different styles of the wines that we had to present to all 18 eager attendees!
We had on the tasting: Terrunyo Sauvignon Blanc, Marques Chardonnay,Marques Carmenere, Amelia Chardonnay , Terrunyo Cabernet Sauvignon, Ocio Pinot Noir, Carmin de Puemo and  Don Melchor.

We talk about the differences in styles of the wines based on Grapes, regions and climate. Then we discussed how to identify quality when tasting wines and also we did an introduction on tasting wines.

It was a really enjoyable tasting as everyone involved was asking lots of questions. I really enjoy this sitting class tasting format.

Then we went to Chester , where I meet Tom the Manager at Chester Corks Out Store. The tasting at Chester was slightly bigger as we had 30 people showing to the event.-

A different format than Stockton Heath as this time they were  standing and sitting one in front of the other in a oval shape.

Tom and Chris introduced the tasting as Chile is not just being about entry level wines. Chile is a Fine wine country too.

We had the finest wines from Concha y Toro including: Don Melchor and Carmin and from Cono Sur the Iconic wine called Ocio.

I explained all the different valleys from the North right down to the South of Chile. I also explained the influence of the Humboldt Current giving cold breezes into the Costal Range in Chile. It was fantastic to see everyone following and understanding my tutorial including some technical vocabulary which sometimes becomes a bit intimidating.
