Home House / The Arts Club - COYA Restaurant

There is an old-fashioned perception about £80+ bottles of wine; that people spending this money on a bottle of wine would only choose Bordeaux or a Burgundy. However, the new world and especially Chile are producing wines of such high quality and consistency they are able to compete.
After talking with Maria Wallen from ‘Coya’ Restaurant and Athila Ross from ‘The Arts Club’ about Chilean fine wines they completely disagree with the fact of everyone is searching for European fine wines when dinning in restaurants, and has a large number of fine wines on their list from South America.

So , I decided to show them Home House at 20 Portman Square to taste all the new vintages  of  Ocio, Amelia, Don Melchor, Quebrada Seca ‘Maycas del LImari’, Carmenere ‘Terrunyo’, Sauvignon Blanc Terrunyo and our elegant Sauvignon Blanc ‘Late Harvest’.

Jeremie Brown is the Chef at Home House and he made as a starter Salmon Terrine with Lemon Crème Fraiche and Herb Dressing.

The dish was very elegant, and the lemon Creme fraiche and the herb dressing gave lots of freshness to the dish .

The Sauvignon Blanc ‘Terrunyo’ 2011 highlighted all the flavours of the dish but personally I really enjoyed Quebrada Seca from Maycas del Limari  2009. The creaminess and minerality of the wine worked very well.  On the middle of the table we had a Pig’s Head Terrine with Artichoke Relish
And Green Aioli to share and Amelia showed very well here. Amelia is a Chardonnay wine from Casablanca valley.

As a main course we had Confit Duck Leg with Leek and Morels, the dish was slightly salty, the reason why was because is been in salt water for couple of hours before is been slow cooked.

We had Don Melchor 2009, Ocio 2010 and Carmenere Terrunyo 2009. Don Melchor 2009 has power, fruit and intensity but with the saltiness of the Duck we had to go back with the Quebrada Seca 2009 a very mineral wine able to refresh our palate.
We had to share at the middle of the table a Roast Pollock with Artichoke Puree and Beetroot very elegant dish. Ocio has the elegance to complement this dish.

To end the meal we had a selection of Cheeses,
